A brief history of these two corporate giants...

The placebo effect is one of the most reliable things in science, so much so that every good human clinical trial accounts for it. Belief has power, clearly. And this book delves into how to yield it without invoking too much pseudospiritual silliness.

You've probably heard all your life that belief and consciousness have power. Power to transform your life, to determine your future, to heal your body, and to change the world around you. This book, better than any other I've read, breaks down why and how that works without delving into a lot of pseudoscientific nonsense.

Back in 2019, I did an interview with the geneticist and author J.F Gariépy on the topic of transhumanism and the book he wrote about the coming phenotypic revolution. Around the same time I read JF's book, I also read At Our Wits' End about the decline of intelligence and what that means for the future. The two books paint a dreary picture of the world to come; that all these dysgenic forces are driving down intelligence across civilization and that we'll end up totally enslaved to our own creation - technology.

Listening back to the interview I realized I am a lot more white-pilled (optimistic) about the future now than I was then. I'm, no doubt, in the minority - given what's gone on in the world in this decade - most people have become less optimistic about the future. I'll make the case for being an optimistic accelerationist and lend you something in real short supply these days - hope.

The Malevolent Conspiracy that Explains it...

This has become one of the most compelling and unsettling new conspiracy theories that have emerged recently. It goes like this...

Large groups of the population distinctly remember certain cultural memes one way, yet a simple Google search will show they are different. Significant proportions of the population have false memories about mainstream cultural memes.

Some examples...

• Nelson Mandela died in the 1980s in prison instead of in 2013.

• Darth Vader did NOT say "Luke, I am your father" he actually said, "No, I am your father."

• Sex in the City is actually Sex and the City.

• Life is like a box chocolates is actually Life was like a box chocolates.

• The Berenstien Bears is actually The Berenstain Bears.

• In the movie Field of Dreams, If you build it, they will come is actually If you build it, he will come.

• Mirror, Mirror on the wall from Snow White is actually Magic mirror, on the wall.

• Interview With a Vampire is actually Interview With the Vampire

• Sally Field(s)'s Oscar acceptance speech "You like me you really like me" was actually You like me, right now, you like me.

• In the assassination of JFK, there were 4 people in the car, nope it was 6 actually.

And there are a bunch of other examples of the Mandela effects. I encourage you to go through them and I think you'll be surprised to find that you have some false memories of cultural memes, old movies, and brands. It's kind of creepy...

Biohacker Review: Evil causes cancer

The Cancer Industry by Mark Sloan is a dissection of one of the darker truths about modernity - that evil is at the root of the cancer epidemic which threatens your life and your loved ones.

It removes a lot of the guesswork from the project of self-quantification and allows you to narrow in on the Biohacking strategies that might just save your life one day. It's a pretty smart thing to do.

Book Review: Atlantis existed.

Graham Hancock’s Magicians of the Gods presents a very methodical argument for a lost civilization.

I’ll summarize what I think is Hancock’s strongest argument for Atlantis:

Around the globe; from the pyramids of Egypt and Göbekli Tepe in Turkey to the ruins in the high mountains of Peru we find extraordinary megalithic architecture that could only be created by an advanced civilization. Remarkably, what we DON’T find in the archaeological record of these places is evolution of the craft of megalithic building.

This is a major dog that does not bark. We don’t find smaller, shoddier, crappier pyramids that the Egyptian engineers cut their teeth building before they figured out how to create the spectacular pyramids that have stood for thousands of years.

I certainly hope not, but if Deep Impact in real life were to happen in our lifetimes, I’d bet on the next 7 days…
