Biohacker Review: A clumpy focus drug for nerds

Aniracetam modulates the Ampakine receptor in the brain, and interestingly, Darpa has investigated Ampakinic drugs. This is the shadowy military research organization about which there are all kinds of crazy (and not so crazy) conspiracy theories. So, if the US government wants to hire me to broker an interstellar peace arrangement with aliens or travel back in time to save JFK, you can find my resume on LinkedIn.

The packet it comes in is pretty small, but the dosage needed for effect is a lot lower than that of Piracetam. A dosage of 1500-2000 milligrams puts me into a very focused state for 3-6 hours.

Adrafinil by Absorb Health

Nootropics & Anti-Aging

Biohacker Review: Kinda like Modafinil minus the sweats, but really not worth trying...

I tried Adrafinil for the first time yesterday. I did about 300 milligrams first thing in the morning, and found it pretty consistent with my experiences with Modafinil. It put me deep into the focus zone for about six hours (a little shorter than Modafinil). For the next three consecutive days, I did the same dosage of Adrafinil, and I felt I'd run into its tolerance curve; on the afternoon of the third day, I actually grew tired after lunch, did a second dose of about 200 milligrams (eyeballing it). So, it's not an everyday smart drug...

Biohacker ReviewI'm Ampakined UP!

Aniracetam is an Ampakinic smart drug that DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) has actually experimented with. So perhaps they are feeding it to the aliens at Area 51, or maybe it's what they give to the (very bored) government employees who spy on us through our webcams and smart TVs.

Conspiracy theorizing aside, Aniracetam is good for my memory, but it's not my favorite Racetam. I have noticeably less discipline, energy, and focus than while dosed on it compared with other Racetams I've done biohacker trials with. It's not very energizing, so if you are trying to avoid stimulants, Aniracetam may be a good option for you. For me, I like smart drugs that put me into this intensely focused zone, so I usually stack it with Piracetam or caffeine and L-theanine stack (like 1-2 GO from Pure Nootropics)

This book makes the case that optimizing your mitochondria is the ultimate performance-enhancing Biohack because mitochondria are the fundamental energy generation mechanism that underlies everything else.

Mitochondria are billions of tiny, ancient bacteria that power your individual cells. You've probably heard of them before, I'll explain more in-depth later what Mitochondria are but for now, I think a Star Wars metaphor will suffice. In Star Wars the Jedi have their powers because of the midichlorians, which are a microscopic life form that is shared by all living things, that give life force to all living things. That's not far off from what Mitochondria actually are!

There's an important point I want you to remember...

Mitochondria are to genes what free will is to predetermination.

Biohacker Review:

I had tried this stack in its commended dosage of 2 capsules daily and it did not really blow my socks off. One sweltering summer afternoon I doubled the recommended dosage and did 4 capsules. I found this to be pleasantly stimulating; I was very focused on my work and in a good mood. The effect lasted about 3 hours. Every evening I take a little break from my work when me and my wife walk our dog, toward the end of the workday I am stuck in kind of funk around this time and am not all that talkative, but on 4 capsules of this stuff, I was very chatty. I did a Dual N-Back brain training session and my scores were a bit improved. At this dosage I could feel a little blood pressure, doing it at a higher dosage I suspect would be overstimulating, I'll continue to use this stack at this dosage. There was an uptick in Dual N-Back brain training scores from 3.5 to 3.7 stacking 4 capsules of Clarity Daily Nootropic with 2 capsules of Thrivous's Alpha Neuroprotector vs taking the Clarity stack alone.

Biohacker Review: Powdered MB for the economic win

My wife and I have been taking Methylene Blue daily for a while now. It's a subtle nootropic, but mostly, I appreciate its effects on immunity. We haven't gotten ill since we've been taking it - no long COVID here. Powdered, this one gets really economical, and I only need to mix a solution with distilled water every couple of months.

It's an understatement to say that European Biohackers face a challenge in getting quality Nootropics, smart drugs, and anti-aging agents...

Almost weekly I will receive emails from Europeans who want to supplement their productivity, happiness, or cognition by using some of the proven, safe, and effective Nootropics that I have written so extensively about. Those in North America do have it easier when it comes to selection and ease of acquiring supplements.

  • Europeans often have to deal with a multi-layered maze of their local country's and the European Union's regulations concerning a given Nootropic.
  • Prescription requirements vary from country to country.
  • VAT taxes vary from country to country.
  • Shipping and customs concerns.

I've lived here in Europe myself for over half a decade and in a word, it's just trickier for European Biohackers. So in this article, I share some credible Europeansources...

Book Review: The Internet Killed the News. Duh. What to do about It...

Lately, I've been reviewing books that would make you feel optimistic and happy about the world so I figured I'd review one that will make you think that it's all FUBAR'd (a great acronym for fucked up beyond any recognition).

The book shows how journalism has died in the digital age because of how the economics of the Internet reward the worst behavior from journalists and news websites. The subtitle of the book is Confessions of a Media Manipulator, the author is a PR consultant who would cleverly orchestrate the media to do his bidding and draw millions of eyeballs.

Book Review: What Napoleon Hill was wrong about...

I first read this when I was around 20 years old, I'm 31 now. I've heard people say that this book kind of grows with you. I read it again and I think I got more out of it the first time I read it. I'll explain why later...

I'll be honest, I read this book about 11 years ago and, I've done a lot of thinking (and doing) since then but I have not grown rich. So you may want to just stop reading this now if you were hoping to hear from someone who's made a bunch of money as a result of reading Think & Grow Rich.
